All todays: what are the gar?

In the sedimentary deposits of what was once North America in the Holocene, has been discovered a strange and unusual skull that has perplexed the scientists, about what could be. It has been determined that this could have been a medium size vertebrate, one predator for its huge teeth, but has not been determined what group. The lack of complete specimens and living relatives has become very difficult to classify or order belongs.

It has been thought of several things, this may have been a type of amphibian, others may have been a synapsid who had survived, and the strangest theory is that it could be a type of vertebrate not known, a new group of tetrapods that would have become extinct long ago

Either way, it has to base its appearance from the comparison of the reptiles.

Has not been able to find a full body, some remains scattered, but it is speculated that it may have tended medium body, short legs and a long tail, similar to crocodiles...
