Description
Well, I'm done with the desert of North America, so my next environment will Savannah of South America.
Carakiller
Like all the birds in the documentary, this time specifically, has several wrong features, including its ancestor.
When I went to start designing this species, I was watching on the avifauna of South America and realized it was not necessary for the carakiller descended of caracara. apparently there is already a bird that is on track to be the Next Terror Bird, this is called Seriema, and is not currently threatened. So instead of making a type of giant flightless caracara, I decided to do a larger version of seriema.
these birds already carry in his head a group of feathers, almost similar to those of the original carakiller, but these are located forward of the head. maybe these can use the same way.
And finally, its size seemed to me a bit exaggerated, the 2 meters, so this might give it 1.5 to 1.7 meters high. The reason for this is that in 5 million years is not enough time for a predatory bird achieves reach that size. (taking as example the Phorusrhacids, most were no greater than 1.5 meters. Since its debut more than 60 million years ago, did not evolve to larger species to less than 15 million years ago, what we know) This smaller size could be compensated by a life in group. These carakillers not depend on their beaks for hunting, as they have strong and powerful legs, integrated with a curved raptor claw that allows them to hurt their prey.
