Description

Skull comparison between its very distant relative, the Daeodon and its distant ancestor.
Only the skull is a prelude to what the true beast will actually be

During the late Oligocene, there was an aberrant and strange type of terrestrial mammal called entelodonts or also known as pigs of hell, artiodactyls similar to pigs, but more related to hippos and whales. Some of them reached enormous lengths as large as bears, especially Daeodon, with 1.8 m high, and a skull almost a meter in length. These aberrant beings were omnivores, however, the larger  forms show that were more or less carnivorous, probably scavengers and even predators; only imagine that this jaw with legs behind you, about to crush you with its enormous teeth, simply frightening.

During the Time of mankind, the real pigs like the wild boar were one of the most common and quite adaptable omnivorous artiodactyls around the world, but with a length slightly less than that of its extinct relative. After humans, the world has changed, and with it, the pigs. It took 39 million years for to happen the first dramatic change for life on earth after man, a lower mass extinction that wiped much of the dominant fauna. The descendants of pigs were some of the lucky ones to survive, and one of the few which take the world early in a way that had not been seen in tens of millions of years. The new clades of pigs, descendants of the genus
Styleohyus, evolved in several branches of large and prominent mammals, specially, one and particular branches of predatory forms.

65 million years after man, the Eurasian lands are the home of one of the largest land predatory mammal of all time, The Dreadmouth (Sarcohyidon erymantheus).

This nightmare pig belongs to a clade derived of the little carnivorous styleohids, now called "Acridentids", adapted to kill huge preys.
This monster evolved in a world governed by a new variety of titanic mammals, which evolved from recent fashion and acquiring titanic lengths in just 25 million years. It has a massive skull of about 1.5 meters long, followed by a huge muscular neck with a semi-cylindrical body of 4 meters, 1,400 kg of weigh which sustained by long thicker pillar-like legs. Despite its enormous weight, in short distances are able to reach up to 30 kilometers per hour. This monster is quite lonely, aggressive and territorial, gathering only for a short period of time to intimate or to parent the young. From birth, the young of about a meter long remain in the care of its mother for a couple of weeks before this one leave it to its own.
After that, they spend their entire lives fighting for their place on earth, reaching to live up to 80 years.

"This monster evolved in a world governed by a new variety of titanic mammals".

Can you please tell us about those "Titanic mammals" that live side to side with the Sarcohyidon?
