Description

Being part of a large lineage that ancestrally possessed a similar aspect to the terrestrial cephalopods and that for almost 180 million years have dominated the surface of its native world, Allogamous is one of the common herbivores of the forests of Medle, a world slightly larger than the earth and largely covered by glaciers.
Externally these extraterrestrials possess a convergent aspect similar to a earth theropod vertebrates, however internally they lack of a skeleton of calcium, its body is supported mainly by a skeletal system conformed so much by cartilages and fibrous interlaced muscles, except for the legs and parts of their chest, which have hard structures derived from internal shells possessed by their ancestors. The other notable feature of this clade is the lack of a jaw; instead they have a long radula-like organ which they use to scrape the different kinds of spongy and robust flora of their environment, which depending on the species can vary in shape and size.

The Allogamous are quite aberrant in terms of sexual dimorphism, males, unlike females, are much smaller, with a much brighter coloration, thin and mostly omnivorous, while females are much more armored, with enormous antle-like structures, a dark coloration and being predominantly herbivores. These differences have even been contributory to confuse both sexes as independent species in the first explorations to the planet by scientists and biologists until the application of genetic studies.

Most species have a social order based on a matriarchal hierarchy, being dominant the females, while the male tend to follow these females or just being solitary most of the time and tend to only come together at times of mating. The reasons why males possess a variety of peculiar colorations tend to be for several uses, from calling the female's attention, status with other males and in several cases as a warning to carnivores because the meat of these tends to be toxic thanks to the plants they eat.

Its reproduction is sexual with internal fertilization, males possess their reproductive organs near the back, and this one is connected by a pair of tubes towards the structure similar to a mallet with a tip that covers its “mouth”, while females despite having the same organs in the same area, the structure responsible for receiving the male gametes is located below the tail where the male penetrates the female with the mallet, and the structure responsible for gestate the fertilized cells is located near the front of the thorax, where they raise until the female gives birth to the young  through the chest.

The species shown in the image is the Moosaulia (Alciomatria anticianus), a medium sized Allogamous inhabitant of the temperate regions of the south hemisphere of the planet, the males of this species tend to have a length of 1 to 1.5 meters long and females are around the 2.5 to 3 meters. The male exhibits a purple coloration with light blue, yellow stripes, and blue spots on the head, while the females are dark brown in color, with lightly colored plates and very light brown snout.
