The Redesigned Dinosaurs

Description

Well, after make some strange creatures for alternative universe, I thought it might be good to do a bit of speculation about the concepts of asides stories, and in this case, is about The New Dinosaurs. As most people know, a lot of beings in the book are too derived from their ancestral forms to the point where they do not seem if were for dinosaurs, pterosaurs or any relatives, but if were a kind of mammalian or reptilian creatures, even for dinosaurs.

Some of the creatures seem implausible, however, they might get to fit, if those evolve the appropriate characteristics and take a slightly more conservative shape of their ancestral forms.

I chose three species, two of desert habitat and arboreal creature by several of the features that they have since they really looks like several things and less dinosaurs.

The first is the sandle, a strange derived coleurosaur which lives sunk in the sand of the African deserts, its appearance is quite strange with elongated body, legs and short arms, without a tail and apparently fills a similar niche some desert lizards. This could probably be unlikely on theropods to adopt such shape, however, I find something a little closer to the penguins in morphology. So, for this redesing, the sandle is not a derived coleurosaur, but maybe a derived Enantiornithes moslty mostly by the lack of a tail (and I forget to add the correct feathers on the arms, so sorry). This species probably is a descendant of a group of semiaquatic penguin-like forms which during the cenozoic take the riverine areas around the north africa, of course, with the disappearance of such environments, many of these species died, however, a small group managed to adapt to new niche and adopt a new lifestyle as land desert dwellers

The second on the right is the wyrm is part of a derived group of coleurosaur of long necks  and tiny bodies, which the desert form is mostly a burrowing creature that hunts little mammals in africa, the weird thing is the form that these dinosaurs evolved, because, in a way, they evolved into snake-like shape. This creature is possible, but it should of course be something more similar to a bird or non-avian dinosaur and less a kind of serpentine or any other saurian shape. In this redesign, this is another Enantiornithes, but it descends from a group which resembles a ratites, this time, characterized by its long neck like a heron or a swan, but these keeps it retracted when are walking and extends to hunt. It is not designed for running, however it is an ambush predator that lurks from an appropriate distance and capture their prey using its long neck. the

The last animal on the left is the treewyrm a relative of the desertwyrm which is an ambush predator that hunts in the branches of the trees, hanging from them.
The redesing of it is the same as the other, but adding more details, like integument and also a more different way to hunt. As the last one, this redesing species have a long neck, which it keeps retracted, giving it a similar appearance to a heron.
As the tongue of a chameleon, the neck is an effective part of its body that gives advantage in trapping other animals, capable of covering a specified distance in a short time, this creature is able to capture and kill any small prey which it has the unfortunate luck of coming across or being the target.

This was just a little out of the routine, because I'll probably continue with my own projects and concepts, probably I will not go into more depth with more redesigns from the creatures of the books of Dixon...
Maybe with TFIW....
