Description

The landscape of the Middle East during the Optimacene, 65 million years after humanity, despite maintaining in some ways a rather familiar look are the new ground for new evolutionary experiments in the revival of the post-extinction of Quaternary mammals. With the complete union of Africa and Europe, this area is predominantly semiarid plains filled with low vegetation and some patches of forests, which supports a considerable amount of megafauna’s newcomer, many of them descendants of small animals that exceeded the catastrophe only several million years ago. As the first large mammals during the Paleogene, the warm weather and the huge amount of niches available allowed this new generation grows to sizes totally disproportionate in comparison of its precursors, both herbivores and carnivores.

Some of the large cosmopolitan herbivores in these areas are Behemopods, huge paraceratherid like herbivores which are descendant of the hyrax from African regions. One of the most common species of the Middle East territories is the Zipsiloceras, of about 5 meters long and 3 meters tall. The most prominent feature of these is the huge horns adorning its heads, which used most as ornament on females but on males are used most for fight; the horns are composed mainly by keratin, and are able to develop in less than a year after born. These results very useful weapons against the little hunters around, however, are completely useless against a much more terrible predator, which is the Dreadmouth, (Sarcohyidon erymantheus) one of the meat eater pigs of this time, the biggest of all. Is a ferocious predator with its huge jaw of about 1.5 meters long, is capable of crushing the bones of their huge dams. In this case, some bites have been able to tear the ribcage of a young Zipsiloceras.

Despite being the largest carnivore, it is not the only one, as around other mammals began to return to the battle. The Dreadmouth is confronted by one of these, the Tyran manjamungu (Mothamanjara bhiti) a huge descendant of the mongooses as big as a lion, came from a new family which replaced the extinct felines; is an efficient hunter, however, also it tends to steal the parts of the corpses from other hunters when it have the opportunity. In this case, the manjamungu is not very lucky, because the pig has seen it, and quickly, no doubt defend its prey.

This thief can not do anything angaist this beast, so in a couple of roars, it simply move away, and while the big pig continue devouring their prey to leave only small parts...
